On July 26th the Committee of Adjustment issued their decision on this application.
Falsetto Homes Inc. was requesting a consent to subdivide the property for the construction of two, three-storey, eight-unit low-rise apartment buildings. They were also requesting nine variances as part of their application.
In making its decision the Committee considered all written and oral submissions relating to the application and, as a result, refused all nine variance requests, as well as the consent to subdivide. A most welcome decision in favour of the community.
Thanks are due to the two dozen participants who attended a meeting held by the Westboro Community Association to hear their concerns, answer questions and share ideas. The outcome of this gathering was that over twenty emails were written to the Committee voicing concerns. Many residents attended the hearing in person with five providing oral submissions in opposition to the proposal. The collaborative effort between the neighbours, assisted by the Westboro Community Association, was a textbook key to success.
The applicant has until August 15th, 2024 to appeal this decision to the Ontario Land Tribunal.
