Storm Cleanup Resources for Westboro

We hope everyone is safe following yesterday’s storm. If you’re dealing with flooding, fallen branches, power outages or storm cleanup, here are a few helpful reminders and resources:

🚧 Flooded roads
• Never drive through flooded streets.
• Treat intersections with non-functioning traffic lights as four-way stops.

🌳 Fallen trees or branches
• If they’re on City property (roads, sidewalks or parks), report them to 3-1-1.
• If they’re on private property, residents are responsible for cleanup. If a tree is damaged or unstable, consider contacting a certified arborist.

⚡ Power outages
• Stay at least 10 metres away from downed power lines.
• If water has reached electrical outlets or your electrical panel, do not enter the area. Contact Hydro Ottawa before entering a flooded basement.

💧 Flooded basements
• Turn off electricity only if it is safe to do so.
• Contact your insurance company as soon as possible.
• Remove wet materials quickly to reduce the risk of mould.

🤝 Neighbours Helping Neighbours

One of Westboro’s greatest strengths is our community. If you’re able, please check in on seniors, neighbours with mobility challenges, or anyone who may need a hand clearing branches or debris.

❤️ Need a hand? Happy to help?

If you need assistance with storm cleanup—or you’re available to lend a hand—leave a comment below or send us a message at hellowestboro@yahoo.ca. We’ll do our best to help connect neighbours who can support one another.
