Have your say on the Golden Avenue/Richmond Road Intersection and MUP Design

The City of Ottawa invites you to attend an open house to discuss this proposed infrastructure improvement project. This is scheduled for Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Churchill Seniors Centre, 345 Richmond Road.

What: The proposed intersection improvements at Golden Avenue and Richmond Road, along with the new multi-use pathway connection to Dominion Avenue, include several key components: intersection modifications; transit improvements; and a new multi-use pathway.

Why: These improvements aim to enhance safety, accessibility, and connectivity for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users in the area.

When: Construction is expected to start in the summer of 2025 and be completed in fall 2025. Notices will be sent prior to the start of construction.

Where: Golden Avenue and Richmond Road, and from this intersection along the east side of the building at 445 Richmond Road to Dominion Avenue.

Background information and design drawings will be on display for your review and staff will be present to answer any questions, receive comments and discuss what to expect during construction. There will not be a formal presentation at this open house. Please attend at your leisure.

In addition to the above meeting, residents can also participate through viewing and commenting on the online documents to be posted here after the event.

Your input is an important part of the consultation process. Your feedback can be submitted at the open house, via the online form(link is external), by email or by phone to the contact below by April 17, 2025.

  1. This seems like someone’s pet project at City Hall. I’m sure there are better ways to spend tax dollars. People can’t navigate around one small building to get to where they want to go? Seriously? Instead we’re going to chop down a bunch of trees and take away a shady afternoon sitting area for the low income resident housing next door? These folks don’t have air conditioning.
I listened in on the on-line presentation several months ago. I didn’t hear a single person who was in favour of this plan during that meeting. I’ll be very disappointed if this gets approved.

  2. I think this proposal is a terrible waste of taxpayers money and is a serious threat to the safety of all pedestrians in the area. It is putting the safety of seniors, children indeed all pedestrians at risk as speeding cyclists believe they have the right of way to speed through quiet residential areas.

  3. What is going on that you need to change a perfectly good intersection. Spending taxpayers money on all this nonsense. Don’t we have qualified trained planners for just this issue. Stop wasting taxpayers money
