The Westboro Community Association and Samurai Ikebana Studio are excited to hold “Flowers for Food” – the first ever ikebana exhibit in Westboro – in support of the Westboro Region Food Bank. It will run from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, Sept. 27 at the Westboro Legion, 389 Richmond Road.
Ikebana is the art of Japanese floral arranging – know as Kado or the “way of flowers.” Different from the lush, colourful Western-style arrangements, ikebana focuses on balance, line, harmony and a minimalistic approach. More than ten ikebana artists will create arrangements on the theme of “Autumn Riot” … so come and see what they come up with! Photos and selfies are encouraged!
In addition to the exhibit, people will be invited to make their own mini-arrangement to take home; kids are especially encouraged to participate! Suggested goodwill donation of $20 – all funds go to the Westboro Region Foodbank! Fight food insecurity, one flower at a time!

Do you need to be there the entire time, from 10-2, or can you just drop in?
Just drop in … spend as much, or as little, time as you like!
