Recovery information sessions will continue for residents on Monday, July 20. City staff will be onsite to continue to support residents impacted by the extreme weather event on Wednesday, July 1.
City staff and its partners, including the Canadian Red Cross, will be present to support the community by answering questions on various topics and providing support related to the extreme weather event and recovery, including:
- Community health and resource centers
- Information on counseling and wellness supports
- Health and safety when cleaning flooded homes
- Insurance and case management experts
- Residential Protective Plumbing program and Compassionate Grant program
- Building code and permitting process
- Financial assistance and grant programs
- Waste disposal

If you are unable to take conventional transit (buses and O-Train), Para Transpo is available between 6 am and midnight. Para Transpo fees will be waived for individuals traveling to and from the information sessions. Free public parking is available onsite for those traveling by car to the information sessions. Please note that parking at Maki House is limited.

We know that residents are moving through the clean-up process at different speeds. While some are ready to dispose of flood-damaged materials, others are still working through insurance assessments, documenting damage, or making decisions about repairs.
Beginning Monday July 20, residents are asked to submit a service request to 3-1-1 when they are ready for storm-waste pickup. This helps us know when assistance is needed and allows crews to respond when it makes the most sense for each household. You can submit a service request for garbage collection online or call 3-1-1.
Dedicated collection vehicles will remain assigned to the impacted wards, and once a service request is submitted, crews will work to collect materials in a timely fashion.
